✈️ Flight Attendant Life Update: Sickness, Slippers & CJO Truths

Hello Reader,

If you’ve been wondering where the Crew Briefing has been, I’ve been knocked out by an acute virus for the past two weeks (not COVID or the flu, but WORSE). I’m finally well enough to get back to work, and let me tell you, I’m just so glad to be back in your inbox.

I never used to get sick, but somehow my son always passes on his sickness to everyone. So if I take care of him, I'm stuck getting it too! My daughter said kids have been coming up to her in school saying they got sick from her brother too. Kids!

I may have skipped newsletters, but I still made sure to get the word out when United opened (yes, even from what felt like my death bed 🥺 - I know, I'm dramatic). Because timing matters when landing a flight attendant position, and I know so many of you count on me and I did not want to let you down.

In This Week's Briefing

As a flight attendant, you spend a lot of time in heels, but let’s be real: they’re not always practical, especially after a long day on your feet. And with limited space (one bag, one tote, maybe a purse or lunchbox if you're lucky), every item has to earn its spot.

That’s why I had to share this week’s find: a pair of foldable ballet flats that are cute, compact, and perfect for slipping on post-interview, during airport delays, or any time your feet need a break.

But that’s not all; I’ve got hiring updates, a must-know tip about rescinded CJOs, and a special bonus in the Training Prep Program that helped me pass a drill I initially failed in training.

Let’s dive in!

Who’s Hiring Flight Attendants

Here’s who’s actively hiring (and what to watch for):

Hawaiian Airlines – Applications are open! But be aware: they don’t provide travel for interviews or accommodations during training. I only recommend applying if you have strong ties to the islands.

Hawaiian doesn't fly you to the F2F and does not provide a place for you to stay during training. Can you imagine how many people would apply just because they are looking for a free Hawaii vacation if they did?

United Airlines – United’s most recent application window closed quickly, but don’t worry, they plan to hire over 4,000 flight attendants in 2025, with applications expected to reopen as early as next month. Get your resume ready!

APRIL BONUS: A downloadable screensaver with the one tip that helped me pass a drill I initially failed in training. I used it on my retake and passed, and I’ve used it before every CQ (Continuing Qualification) after that, and it never let me down.

Tip of the Week: Rescinded CJOs

Let’s talk about something that’s not often covered but is happening: rescinded Conditional Job Offers (CJOs).

In the current climate, especially with international airlines scaling back US recruitment due to global hesitancy, some offers get pulled after interviews.

In some cases, it’s just a formality. The airline plans to issue CJOs to select candidates and move forward later. If you have a rescinded CJO, you will most likely be among the first before they open the position to the public.

There have been candidates whose Conditional Job Offers (CJO) were rescinded, and later they were called back, but they did not receive the offer a second time. While this is much rarer, it has occurred. I have witnessed many rescinded CJOs at many airlines over the years since the pandemic.

Important distinction:

American Airlines is currently experiencing a pause but is not rescinding CJOs. That’s a big difference, and if you're in their pipeline, you don’t need to worry. Just stay patient.

Now here’s where it gets serious:

If you accept another flight attendant job while waiting for your dream airline and later decide to leave, you must always give a full two weeks’ notice, especially if you’re still in your probation period.

Why?

  • Quitting without notice especially on probation = ineligible for rehire
  • And worse: you may be blackballed from other airlines for up to 10 years

It’s not just hearsay. It happens.

Even if the job you took was “just to bide your time,” the way you leave still matters. Always exit professionally. Protect your reputation, airlines are usually a hot mess, but they are meticulous about tracking candidates.

If you know anyone who can benefit from this information, you can share it by forwarding this email.

Wheels up!

Hello Reader, I hope you're having a great week so far. It’s wild how fast the year is flying by; spring has sprung, and it's April already!
