✈️ The jumpseat is waiting for you. Are you ready? | Crew Briefing

Hello Reader,

If you’re reading this mid-flight, on a layover, or dreaming of the day you will be, welcome back.

I’ve been deep in writing mode the last few weeks, racing to finish a book proposal before a June 5th deadline. Last fall, I gifted myself a spot in a prestigious writing program, and it’s a contest for the program participants.

If you’ve been around here a while, you know storytelling is kind of my thing. This is book one of a trilogy, and there is a lot of flight attendant stuff in it. I’m really excited about it, I’d love it if it became one of the books everyone is talking about on the jumpseat.

And even if nothing comes of it, that’s okay. Creativity is self-care. Never forget that, especially on those trips when you’re too exhausted to even think straight. Protect that creative time for yourself whenever you can.

💺 This Week at FFA - The Flight Attendant Training Prep Program

Flight attendant training is still part of the interview process. You are not officially hired until you earn your wings. And here’s something most people don’t know: as many as 20–40% of candidates leave training without a job. They quit their careers, pack their bags full of excitement and hope, and then in an instant, it’s gone. They fly home, leaving their classmates behind.

Training is intense, and almost no one is truly prepared for what they’re about to walk into. Airlines don’t give candidates enough support, and they certainly don’t warn you about what’s coming.

That’s exactly why I created the Flight Attendant Training Prep Program, your essential guide to training success, and honestly, your survival kit.

For an incredibly affordable price, this comprehensive online program gives you everything you need to walk into training feeling confident, prepared, and ready to earn your wings.

Here’s what’s inside:

✈️ Module 1: Introduction to Initial Flight Attendant Training: A full overview of the journey ahead, so nothing catches you off guard.

🧠 Module 2: The Psychological Impact of Training: Understand the mental demands and learn how to protect yourself through them.

📚 Module 3: Study Tips and Strategies: Proven tools to help you absorb, retain, and recall everything you’ll be tested on.

🎯 Module 4: Understanding Your Learning Style: An interactive quiz to help you study smarter, not harder.

📋 Module 5: Flight Attendant Training Expectations: Know exactly what each day looks like so you can show up as someone they keep.

💪 Module 6: Simple Health, Fitness & Nutrition: Keep yourself energized and at your best from day one through graduation.

This isn’t just a course. It’s a support system that will be with you through training and beyond. Secure your seat today and make sure you’re one of the ones who make it.

💡 Tip of the Week: Building a Sleep Routine

Let’s be real: tired is basically a flight attendant’s love language. You’re hopping time zones, surviving layovers that barely give you enough time to eat, shower, and close your eyes before the van is back downstairs. It’s a lot on your body, and sleep deprivation has a way of sneaking up on you before you even realize it’s happening.

Here’s the good news: you can’t control your schedule, but you can absolutely control your sleep routine. And building one is one of the smartest, most underrated things you can do for your career, your health, and yes, your skin.

“Get your beauty sleep” is not just a cute saying. Sleep is when your body does its most important work: repairing itself, rebuilding your immune system, and yes, giving you that glow. Show up rested, and it shows. Show up exhausted, and that shows too.

Here’s what works for me, no matter where I am in the world:

🌙 Same routine, every time. Whether I’m home or on a layover somewhere I’ve never been, I do the exact same wind-down ritual. My body knows what’s coming, and it starts to relax on cue. Pick two or three things that feel good to you, a skincare routine, a cup of herbal tea, or a few minutes of light stretching, and commit to them every single night.

📵 Devices are tricky. The experts say put the phone down, and they’re not wrong. But if you’re lying there wide awake staring at the ceiling, sometimes a comfort show you’ve seen a hundred times or a slow, slightly boring audiobook is exactly what your brain needs to finally let go. Know yourself and what works for you. If you don’t already have Audible, now is a great time to try it. Amazon has a free 30-day trial running right now, and it’s a steal.

😴 Find your sleep triggers and use them. What makes you feel drowsy? A certain playlist? A white noise app? A room that’s ice cold? Intentionally build those things into your routine so your body learns the cues.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s consistency. A solid sleep routine is one of the best investments you can make in yourself and your career. Your immune system will thank you, your energy will thank you, and honestly, your passengers will too.

🛍️ Amazon Storefront & Pick of the Week

Amazon’s Big Spring Sale is happening now! From March 25–31, you can get some great deals. My pick of the week is currently on sale, and it’s a TSA-approved travel lock. It’s a two-pack, so you get two at a great price.

I’ve had stuff stolen, I hate to say that, but it has happened. Even if your bag is in the overhead compartment, you never know who you’re flying with, so I always put a lock on mine. I like these because you set the combination yourself, and it’s only three numbers, so it’s easy to remember.

Definitely check out Amazon’s Big Spring Sale, and browse the Future Flight Attendant Amazon Storefront for interview outfits, flight attendant shoes, and much more.

Final Boarding Announcement

And that’s a wrap on this week’s briefing! Before you close out, I want to leave you with one thing: don’t forget to make time for yourself.

Whether you’re 30,000 feet in the air, grinding through interview prep, or somewhere in between, creativity is one of the best tools you have. It keeps you sharp, keeps you sane, and keeps you connected to who you are outside of the uniform.

Write something. Draw something. Cook something new on your days off. Start that book you keep saying you’ll read. Record a voice memo of a story only you could tell. It doesn’t have to be big, it just has to be yours.

For those of you prepping for interviews, creativity isn’t just a hobby right now; it’s a strategy. The candidates who stand out are the ones who bring something real and alive to the room. Stay curious. Stay inspired. That energy is contagious, and the recruiting team can feel it.

For those of you already flying, you already know how quickly this career can drain you if you let it. Protect your spark. Sleep well, take care of your body, and do at least one thing this week that fills you back up.

I’ll see you in the next one. Safe travels, good rest, and as always, keep dreaming big. The jumpseat is waiting for you. ✈️

Hello Reader, Welcome to this week’s Crew Briefing. This week is a reminder that you do not need perfect circumstances to take care of yourself. You just need a few simple habits and a couple of smart tools. Today we are talking about rest, naps, and being comfortable even when the operation is not. Summer is coming, and I don’t need a crystal ball to tell me there will be meltdowns. They seem to happen every single summer at different airlines. 🛫 Who’s Hiring Flight Attendants Allegiant...

Hello Reader, Welcome to week two of March. We have officially shifted into longer days, which always feels like a fresh start, even if you are still attached to winter like I am. March is what I call probation season. Did you know that during your first six months of flying, you are usually on probation? That is the window where you protect your record by staying reliable. Perfect attendance and on-time performance go a long way. Habits that make professionalism feel automatic. We are...

Hello Reader, ✈️ Welcome Aboard Welcome to March, one of the most meaningful months in my journey as a flight attendant. Lately, my classmates and I have been celebrating our 20-Year Anniversary, reminiscing about the day we first donned our wings. We started training on January 28, 2006, and I’ll never forget the excitement, and nerves, as we graduated on March 1. That's me on the top right looking out the window of the cabin trainer. Happy 20th Anniversary, 0604! Thinking back, I’m reminded...
