Hello Reader, Happy Juneteenth! Juneteenth is a time to remember that, even though freedom was delayed, denied, or disguised in various ways, we are still here, still evolving, and still breaking through ceilings that were said to be unbreakable. It’s a moment to recognize that the sky isn’t the limit; it’s just the beginning. Your very presence in spaces where someone tried to keep you out is a form of freedom. If you're fighting to be seen because of your ethnicity, nationality, identity, voice, or the way you dream, Juneteenth reminds you that you are not alone in that struggle and your voice matters. From Juneteenth to Pride, this month serves as a reminder that freedom doesn’t look the same for everyone, and we all deserve to be seen, safe and celebrated. Tip of the Week: Why Rest Is Part of the JobWhen I was on reserve, I fell asleep behind the wheel. Twice. That’s how real fatigue is and how dangerous it can be. As a flight attendant, you’re expected to be calm, alert, and on point, even when your schedule is the opposite of consistent. But here’s the reality: Fatigue isn’t just feeling tired. It’s a form of impairment. In this career, that can lead to serious consequences, like falling asleep in the jumpseat (which can get you fired) or blowing a slide (which could even end your career on the spot if you're on probation). That’s why Future Flight Attendant is all about the summer of self-care, and a foundation of self-care is rest. Ways to Get Better Rest - Even on a Crazy Schedule
Bonus: My Signature Sleep Routine TipCreate a consistent sleep cue no matter where you are. You’ll be sleeping in all kinds of places as a flight attendant. A sleep mask, sound machine app, or a quick breathwork pattern can signal your body it’s time to rest, even in a crashpad or hotel room. Rest isn’t what you do only after the hustle. It’s what makes the hustle sustainable. Let’s make rest non-negotiable. If you’re preparing for this career and already feeling overwhelmed, you don’t have to do it alone. Want more than tips? Get personal support. Inside the Future Flight Attendant Course & Coaching Program, I help you prepare for interviews and build sustainable habits that prevent burnout from the start. You’ll get insider strategies, real support, and a blueprint for staying calm, confident, and a polished candidate.
Thank you for allowing me to share authentically with you. That's all for this week's Crew Briefing. Hello Reader, After the Southwest alert glitch, I received hundreds of emails. Some were hard to read, but most were thoughtful, kind, and deeply encouraging. I have been reading every single one, and I want to say thank you. Your messages reminded me of something important. The flight attendant I was working with was in the forward galley with headphones on, the galley curtain closed, and watching a movie. He didn’t even know I was being attacked in the aisle. That moment changed everything...
Hello Reader, Southwest Airlines opens flight attendant applications tomorrow! This is one of the most competitive flight attendant positions in the U.S., and the hiring window is typically short. In past years, the site has even crashed because of the number of applicants. You’ll want to refresh frequently and apply the moment it opens. You can go through the link on the ➡️Future Flight Attendant Job Board. Even if the link on the job board does not yet say "hiring" click on it anyway. If...
Hello Reader, My kids are home for the summer, and the first thing they did was clean their rooms. I almost fainted. Full-on decluttering. It spoke directly to my love language: clearing space to make room for what’s next. And then this happened: one of the deer near our property was hit by a car. It was unfortunate. But then the vultures came. They cleared it. The deer wasn’t wasted. Nature took care of what was left, with purpose. It reminded me of something important: clearing, in every...
