Tip of the Week - Summer of Self-Care: Leg Edition (Part 1 of 3)

Let’s be real, getting “flight ready” takes time.

If you’ve been on leave, it can take around three months to feel physically strong again. And if you’re brand new? Six months to a year is realistic to truly get in shape for the demands of flying.

Even if you’re already in great shape, this job hits different. The constant standing, lifting, walking in heels, cabin pressure changes, and interrupted sleep cycles wear on your body in ways you can’t train for in a gym.

That’s why leg care isn’t optional, it’s essential.

Compression gear isn’t just about comfort; it’s how smart flight attendants protect their energy and appearance, ensuring you're always prepared and confident on the job.

If you’re flying, commuting, or even prepping for training, and being in dress shoes and heels, your legs are your foundation, and what you wear makes a big difference.

This week, I’m breaking down the compression gear for crew members:

  • Compression socks – great for short flights, travel days, and interviews.
  • Compression hose – great for full-leg protection, less swelling, and a polished look under uniforms; some even have tummy control.
  • Calf sleeves – perfect for summer trips: change your socks daily, and reuse the sleeves until the end of your trip.
  • Full-leg sleeves – winter favorites that offer heavy-duty support (but too hot for July).

Don’t forget the shoes! Even the best compression gear can’t compensate for poor footwear. Supportive soles and flexible fit matter, and we’ll shine a spotlight on those soon.

My Compression Go-Tos

🛍️ My compression go-tos are all in the Amazon Storefront, tested, travel-approved, and carry-on ready. Please be sure and bookmark that section for current and future reference.

I've marked and described each type of compression in the store in detail:

  • Mild: for commuting and travel
  • Moderate: for just starting out with compression hose
  • Firm: harder to put on, for long duty days and international flying
  • Extra firm: existing leg issues

Try This:

Take control of your well-being. Pick one type of compression wear and test it on a long day. Then see how your legs feel by the end of the day, and again the next morning. You’ll be surprised by what a difference it makes. Your legs last so much longer!

Next Week: The moment during the flight when I always sit down, and how that small move protects your legs from long-term damage.

If you know anyone who can benefit from this information, you can share it by forwarding this email.

Wheels up!
