It’s the first week of October, and I have to admit, I’ve been decorating for Halloween all week. I keep my tree out all year, and either decorate it or leave it plain, it saves me time and the effort of packing and unpacking. I’ve done enough packing and unpacking as a flight attendant! I like to look at pretty things that make me feel happy and magical.

I might have gotten a little carried away, but fall is my favorite time of year. I say that every season, ha ha. The weather is finally cooling down here in the Appalahchians, and it feels so festive.

Airlines are opening applications quickly and closing them just as fast. Every week you wait is another week lost on the seniority list. If you’ve been dreaming about flying, now is the time to get serious. And just like I go all in on decorating, I want you to go all in on preparing. Tip of the Week: Handling the Dreaded TBNT

Almost every applicant gets the dreaded “TBNT” (Thanks But No Thanks) email at some point.

It stings, but here’s the truth:

❌ A TBNT does NOT mean you’re not good enough.

✔️ It means you applied without the right strategy.

Airlines get thousands of applications. If you don’t know how to play the game, assessments, keywords, or correctly structured video interview answers, you’ll get weeded out before a recruiter ever sees your name.

That’s the bad news.

The good news? Once you know the system, you can skip the wasted years and move straight to “Yes.” Be kind to yourself and treat yourself the way you would treat someone who came to you for support. You can decorate a Halloween tree if you feel bad, it's an instant pick me up!
