Tip of the Week: The Reality About Being a Flight Attendant

When you first become a flight attendant, you start at the bottom. Especially as a reserve, you are often treated like a number, and sometimes you work long hours without much recognition.

Technical glitches happen. Flight delays happen. Crew shortages happen. That’s part of the reality of aviation.

The good news is: it continues to get better. With time and seniority, you earn better trips, higher pay, and more respect. Disruptions and delays are inevitable, but flexibility improves over time.

The most valuable asset you have in this career is your crew. We are a family in the sky and on the ground, and we have to have each other's backs. If that doesn't resonate with you, this may not be the right career path. But for those who can stick it out to live their dreams, being a flight attendant truly is one of the best careers in the world.

If you want to be fully prepared when your dream airline opens applications, the Flight Attendant Interview Masterclass is always available to help you stand out and get hired.

You can check it out HERE.

A Moment of Reflection

As many in the United States gather to celebrate Independence Day, it is also an opportunity to pause and reflect on the meaning of freedom and how it is experienced differently by different people.

It can be a time to come together in community, express gratitude, and take a well-deserved moment to rest and recharge, whatever this holiday represents for you.

Wishing you a safe, peaceful, and reflective holiday weekend.

If you know anyone who can benefit from this information, you can share it by forwarding this email.

Wheels up!

Hello Reader, After the Southwest alert glitch, I received hundreds of emails. Some were hard to read, but most were thoughtful, kind, and deeply encouraging. I have been reading every single one, and I want to say thank you. Your messages reminded me of something important. The flight attendant I was working with was in the forward galley with headphones on, the galley curtain closed, and watching a movie. He didn’t even know I was being attacked in the aisle. That moment changed everything...

Hello Reader, Southwest Airlines opens flight attendant applications tomorrow! This is one of the most competitive flight attendant positions in the U.S., and the hiring window is typically short. In past years, the site has even crashed because of the number of applicants. You’ll want to refresh frequently and apply the moment it opens. You can go through the link on the ➡️Future Flight Attendant Job Board. Even if the link on the job board does not yet say "hiring" click on it anyway. If...

Hello Reader, Happy Juneteenth! Juneteenth is a time to remember that, even though freedom was delayed, denied, or disguised in various ways, we are still here, still evolving, and still breaking through ceilings that were said to be unbreakable. It’s a moment to recognize that the sky isn’t the limit; it’s just the beginning. Your very presence in spaces where someone tried to keep you out is a form of freedom. If you're fighting to be seen because of your ethnicity, nationality, identity,...
