Tip Of The Week - Stay Hydrated & Cool

Summers are hot! Take back the control of your comfort. If you run hot, always carry a personal fan and a reusable water bottle. This is especially crucial during hot ground waits, which can exceed 90 degrees in the summer. Ick!

Airlines don't always allow flight attendants to take water off the plane, which is ridiculous. I tried to change the rule by saying that water is a human necessity, but my argument fell on deaf ears.

When you are on probation, you must be extra careful to follow all the rules, so carrying your water bottle to refill is crucial! Who has time to run around and find water on their layover, especially when it's short?

Flight attendant uniforms are often a polyester wool blend, and polyester does not breathe. Nothing is worse than walking to your gate in a hot airport and needing another shower. Don't even get me started about running to catch your commute home. I always keep a rechargeable fan with me so I don't overheat.

I usually leave my mini fan running overnight at hotels, too. Some hotels have the AC set to turn off once it reaches a specific temperature at night to save money, so it gets HOT (I have a trick for you to use, too!). The fan helps with some white noise and is perfect for keeping you extra cool.

Check out the Future Flight Attendant Amazon Storefront under "Flight Attendant Must-Haves," where you can easily find essential items like portable water bottles and rechargeable fans.

Hotel Thermostat Override Trick

You can also override the hotel thermostat. Different thermostats have different ways to override them, so the best way to do it is to google "[MODEL NAME] Thermostat Override or [MODEL NAME] Thermostat Bypass." Of course, you will use the thermostat's actual model name.

These tips are practical and effective. I hope you found this update helpful!

If you know anyone who can benefit from this information, you can share it by forwarding this email.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Hello Reader, I hope you're having a great week so far. It’s the first week of October, and I have to admit, I’ve been decorating for Halloween all week. I keep my tree out all year, and either decorate it or leave it plain, it saves me time and the effort of packing and unpacking. I’ve done enough packing and unpacking as a flight attendant! I like to look at pretty things that make me feel happy and magical. I might have gotten a little carried away, but fall is my favorite time of year. I...

Hello Reader, Fall started on Monday, and I’m super excited for spooky season! It’s my favorite time of year, and the leaves are already starting to change here in the Appalachian Mountains. The view from an aircraft window this time of year, especially if you're flying to the East Coast, is incredible. Hello Reader, I believe there is always a message in everything if we are willing to look for it. I love all animals, but I have a special fondness for winged ones, the feathered kind and the big metal birds that serve as our offices in the sky. This week I spotted a black eagle, only the second I’ve ever seen. It was massive and unforgettable, a reminder that even when life feels heavy, there is beauty in the lessons we carry forward. For those of you navigating interviews right now,...
