Tip of the Week - Be Cautious When Mixing Business with PleasureRecently, someone asked if I had ever been in a romantic relationship with a pilot from my airline. My response was a definite no. Even if I were single when I started flying, it still would be a no. Because I’ve seen exactly how that story ends, I'm not saying that sometimes inter-work relationships can't work, but an ounce of caution is worth a pound of cure. Years ago, while I was on reserve doing airport appreciation (airport standby), crew scheduling called another reserve flight attendant off the couch to cover a trip. The captain? Her boyfriend. One of the other flight attendant on the trip was his wife. The flight didn’t even make it off the ground. When the reserve started talking to the other flight attendant, she said, “My boyfriend is the captain.” Then the other flight attendant said, “My husband is the captain!” And before pushback, fists were flying in the back galley. This pilot had to go to the back of the aircraft to break up the fight. How awful for the women, fighting with each other over a cheater. Definitely not someone to lose your job over. Despite the sheer number of flight attendants and pilots in one airline, the unexpected turn of events that day serves as a reminder to be careful who you trust. Neither of those women anticipated what unfolded, nor did they expect to lose their career over it. The captain? It didn’t affect his career, but the consequences were devastating for the flight attendants. Sometimes, the people who cause the most chaos never face the same fallout. Protect your career. Protect your peace. And don’t hand your wings to someone who doesn’t value you. 🛒 FFA Amazon StorefrontHaving the right gear can make all the difference, from interview prep to layovers to long days in the air. Hello Reader, I hope you're having a great week so far. It’s the first week of October, and I have to admit, I’ve been decorating for Halloween all week. I keep my tree out all year, and either decorate it or leave it plain, it saves me time and the effort of packing and unpacking. I’ve done enough packing and unpacking as a flight attendant! I like to look at pretty things that make me feel happy and magical. I might have gotten a little carried away, but fall is my favorite time of year. I...
